Brouwerij de Koperen Markies
Belgium
Brouwerij De Koperen Markies (DKM Brewery) is a Belgian craft brewery based in Sint-Niklaas, in the East Flanders province. The brewery emerged from a merger between two artisanal beer brands from Asse and Sint-Niklaas, combining their shared passion for handcrafted Belgian beer. In recent years, the brewery has also expanded its footprint by relocating to a former railway station building, underlining its ambition and growth within the Belgian craft beer scene. De Koperen Markies brews a range of pure, flavourful beers with a strong artisanal character. The brewery is known for champagne-style brut beers, as well as traditional Belgian styles. Their Bapas tripel from Temse has been particularly well received, described as an easy-drinking and distinctly spicy tripel with fruity notes and hoppy accents. The portfolio reflects a commitment to flavour-driven, craft brewing rooted in Belgian tradition. In 2025, De Koperen Markies made headlines by acquiring the brands and recipes of the historic Brouwerij De Ryck from Herzele, including celebrated beers such as Arend Tripel, Special de Ryck, and Steenuilke. This acquisition secured the future of these beloved Belgian beers and further cemented DKM Brewery's reputation as a steward of Belgian brewing heritage. The brewery also participated in the European Beer Challenge 2024, highlighting its growing international profile.
