Brauhaus Leikeim

Brauhaus Leikeim is a family-owned craft beer brewery located in Altenkunstadt, in the Oberfranken (Upper Franconia) region of Bavaria, Germany. The brewery was founded in 1887 by Johann Leikeim, a master butcher and innkeeper, and has remained in family hands ever since, passing from generation to generation. Andreas Leikeim is among those who continued the family legacy, growing the brewery into a substantial regional producer that now brews over 200,000 hectoliters of beer annually. The portfolio of Brauhaus Leikeim covers a broad range of traditional German beer styles, with a strong focus on Bavarian and Franconian brewing traditions. Among its best-known beers are Leikeim Premium Pils, Kuschter Helles Weizen, and Leikeim Landbier, a pale lager at 5.4% ABV. The brewery also produces Leikeim Steinbier, a Kellerbier brewed according to one of the oldest brewing methods in the world, in which the wort is heated using fire-heated stones, resulting in a distinctive caramel-like taste that sets it apart from conventional lager brewing. Leikeim Steinbier has attracted particular attention among beer enthusiasts for its unique production process and flavour profile. The brewery's combination of deep-rooted Franconian heritage, traditional brewing techniques and a diverse range of styles makes Brauhaus Leikeim a notable name in German craft and regional brewing.
