Brauerei Frastanz
Austria · Founded in 1902
Brauerei Frastanz is an Austrian brewery located in Frastanz, in the westernmost province of Vorarlberg. Founded in 1902 as a cooperative, it has deep roots in the local community and regional brewing tradition. In 2016, the cooperative opened its membership to the general public, meaning that anyone can now become a co-owner of the brewery — a rare and distinctive model that strengthens the bond between the brewery and the people it serves. The brewery's philosophy revolves around authentic beer culture and traditional craftsmanship. Frastanzer beers are brewed with a focus on pure, unadulterated flavour, achieved through time-honoured brewing techniques and quality ingredients. The portfolio spans a range of classic Central European lager styles, including a Kellerbier, a Märzen, and a dark lager known as S'Dunkle, as well as a honey-flavoured specialty called S'Honig. These beers reflect the alpine brewing heritage of the Vorarlberg region. The S'Dunkle dark lager has earned notable recognition, receiving a score of 90 from tasting platform Falstaff. Rooted in cooperative values and regional pride, Brauerei Frastanz continues to represent a living example of community-owned brewing in the heart of the Austrian Alps.
