Brasserie Nationale
Luxembourg · Founded in 1975
Brasserie Nationale is Luxembourg's leading brewery, established in 1975 through the merger of two historic Luxembourgish brewing institutions: Brasserie Bofferding, founded in 1844 in Bascharage, and Brasserie Mousel. The merger united centuries of combined brewing heritage into a single national brewery, making it a cornerstone of Luxembourg's beer culture and one of the oldest brewing traditions in the Benelux region. The brewery is best known for its flagship Bofferding brand, which is recognised as a traditional, 100% natural beer brewed in Bascharage. The Bofferding range represents the brewery's commitment to classic lager-style brewing, using natural ingredients and time-honoured brewing methods. Alongside Bofferding, Brasserie Nationale also produces mineral water, reflecting its role as a broad beverage producer within Luxembourg. Brasserie Nationale opens its doors to visitors, offering brewery tours that include beer tastings, typically running from mid-June through mid-September on Saturdays. The brewery's taproom and visitor experience offer a direct connection to Luxembourg's rich brewing legacy, cementing Brasserie Nationale as both a producer and cultural ambassador of Luxembourgish beer.
