Brasserie de Silly

Brasserie de Silly is a family-owned Belgian brewery located in the small town of Silly, approximately 40 kilometres from Brussels. Founded in 1850, the brewery has been passing down the craft of artisanal brewing across six generations of the same family. Rooted in the Hainaut agricultural tradition, the brewery evolved from the seasonal farmhouse beers once brewed on large Hainaut estates using local barley and hops for field labourers. Today, the Van der Haeghen family continues to uphold those heritage recipes, guided by the philosophy of improving processes while keeping original recipes intact. Brasserie de Silly offers a diverse portfolio of Belgian beer styles. Its range includes the Double Enghien — a city beer available in blonde, dark, and Christmas editions — as well as a traditional Saison and the Silly Scotch ale, one of the brewery's most recognised beers internationally. The brewery is also known for experimenting with flavour: in 2002 it launched a bold pink, grapefruit-flavoured beer, a pioneering move at the time. The Enghien d'Hiver rounds out the seasonal lineup as a spiced winter tripel. With over 160 years of brewing history, Brasserie de Silly is considered a reference point for artisanal Belgian brewing and is well regarded among Belgian family brewers. Its beers are exported internationally, reaching markets as far as Australia and North America.
