Birra Elvo is a microbrewery based in Graglia, in the Biella province of Piedmont, northern Italy. The brewery takes its name from the Elvo river, which flows through this Alpine foothills region. Brewer Josif Vezzoli, who was nominated as Emerging Brewer of the Year in 2023 according to the Italian beer publication Birra&Sound, leads the project with a clear focus on quality and craftsmanship. The brewery's portfolio spans a broad range of styles, reflecting both German brewing traditions and contemporary craft beer trends. Among their beers are a German-style Pils, lagered for over 40 days to achieve a clean and elegant finish with fruity notes, a Schwarz dark Kellerbier, a Double Bock called Claus, and an American IPA named Meters. This diversity in styles — from low-fermentation lagers to hop-forward ales — demonstrates the brewery's technical range and ambition. Birra Elvo is also an active participant in the local brewing community. The brewery has taken part in collaborative projects with other Biella-area breweries, including a beer created from a partnership between four Biellesi breweries. Elvo has also been involved in regional initiatives bringing together Piedmontese craft breweries, underlining its role as a respected voice in the Italian craft beer scene.
