Bierhistorie Delft

Bierhistorie Delft is a Dutch beer brand rooted in the rich brewing history of Delft, a city with deep ties to beer production dating back to the Golden Age. Founded in 2007, the initiative combines historical research and storytelling with the actual production of beers inspired by Delft's brewing past. The brand is closely associated with Aad, a well-known figure who guided beer-historical walking tours through the city, bringing the story of Delft as a historic beer city to life for enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. Rather than operating its own brewery, Bierhistorie Delft worked as a contract or tenant brewer, producing its beers at existing brewing facilities — including a collaboration with brouwerij Klein Duimpje. The portfolio consisted of six beers in total, each inspired by or connected to the historical beer culture of Delft and the surrounding Midden Delfland region. The brand was active until around 2019, making it a relatively short-lived but culturally meaningful project in the Dutch craft beer landscape. Bierhistorie Delft stood out not just for its beers but for its educational mission — organizing beer-historical walking tours that explored Delft's Golden Age brewing heritage. These tours helped place the city back on the map as one of the Netherlands' original beer cities.
