Bergquell Brauerei Löbau

Bergquell Brauerei Löbau is a traditional brewery rooted in the Lusatian region of eastern Saxony, Germany. Founded in 1846 in the town of Löbau, the brewery has been a cornerstone of local brewing culture for well over a century and a half. For most of its history it operated as a purely regional brewery, serving the surrounding area with classic German beer styles. A significant turning point came in 1996, when the brewery celebrated its 150th anniversary and began charting a new course. The brewery's portfolio reflects both tradition and a willingness to innovate. Alongside a crisp Bergquell Pilsner and a refreshing Lausitzer Hefe-Weizen, the brewery is particularly known for its porter range. Since 1999, the Lausitzer Porter has been the flagship product, a dark, full-bodied beer that put Bergquell firmly on the map beyond its regional roots. The porter family has since expanded to include creative variations such as the Erdbeer Porter (strawberry) and Kirsch Porter (cherry), blending classic dark malt character with fruit-forward brewing. The Lausitzer Porter remains the brewery's signature beer and best-known product, earning Bergquell Brauerei Löbau a reputation that stretches well beyond the Lusatian region. With a brewing heritage spanning nearly 180 years, the brewery stands as a proud ambassador of eastern Saxon beer culture.
