About
Van Vollenhoven East Indies Pale Ale revives a historic recipe from the original Van Vollenhoven brewery in Amsterdam, taken over in 1791 by merchant Jan Messchert van Vollenhoven. This beer was once exported to the East Indies and represents the Dutch take on the classic IPA style. Brewed today by Poesiat & Kater with traditional European hops and a splash of Spanish brandy, it differs from conventional English IPAs by using less aggressive hopping. The brandy addition provides the bitter edge. At 6.5% ABV, it delivers a full-bodied, warming character that honours its colonial trading heritage.
