About
Staropramen is a classic Czech pilsner from Prague, brewed by the country's second-largest brewery. The beer was first brewed on 1 May 1871 by master brewer Petr Quaiser in the Smíchov district. The name Staropramen—literally 'old spring'—was officially registered in 1911. This is a clean, well-balanced lager with a golden hue and white foam head. The nose shows grain and herbal notes, while the palate is crisp and cereal-forward with mild hop bitterness and a hint of citrus zest. The finish is dry and bitter, characteristic of a properly crafted Czech pilsner. Staropramen is easy-drinking and refreshing, without sharp edges—a reliable choice for those who appreciate classic European lagers.
