Letter of Marque is a full-bodied, warming barley wine from Nøgne Ø, the Norwegian brewery based in Grimstad that pioneered craft beer in Scandinavia. This ambitious expression matured for six months in exclusive Rivesaltes dessert wine barrels, French fortified wine casks that impart deep wine and toffee character. The result is a complex beer with a pronounced port wine-like nose, noticeable wood and earth elements, and a full body that carries its 12% ABV with grace. The finish is dry and lingering, with sustained fruit and roasted malt notes.
