Berghoeve Brouwerij, based in Twente, crafts Zwarte Snorre as an Imperial Stout that begins as a dark and potent expression of pale, chocolate, black and smoked malts. This barrel-aged variant is matured in Ben Nevis whisky casks, adding layers of oak and spirit character to the base beer's roasted foundation. Oat flakes contribute fullness and creaminess to the palate, while Galena hop provides restrained bitterness. At 11% ABV, the beer offers warming depth and richness, with tasting notes reminiscent of dark chocolate and smoke. A considered, intense stout built for contemplation.
