An exceptional barrel-aged beer from Hertog Jan's Grand Prestige Vatgerijpt series. The base beer matured for eight months in Kentucky Straight Bourbon barrels and was infused with juniper berries, a distinctive ingredient rooted in Dutch culinary tradition. The result is a full-bodied, warming quadrupel with a deep brown hue. The juniper brings a fresh, subtly tart character that plays against the soft vanilla-like aromas imparted by the bourbon oak. The body is round and substantial, with a pleasant alcoholic warmth befitting its 11.5% ABV. This is a beer for contemplative drinking, where the complex interplay of wood, fruit, and spice gradually reveals itself.
