Bourbon County Brand Stout is the flagship of Goose Island, a Chicago brewery that has pioneered barrel-aged beer since the 1980s. This 15.2% ABV Imperial Stout matures in bourbon barrels, creating a deep, layered experience. The nose reveals coffee and vanilla alongside dark chocolate and oak from barrel maturation. On the palate, a full, boozy character dominates, with toffee and espresso notes punctuated by subtle fruit—apple and pear emerge from the complexity. The finish is long and warming, with bourbon flavours gradually fading. This is a beer for slow drinking—alongside rich dessert or simply for reflection.
