About
Ola Dubh ('black oil' in Gaelic) is a distinctive collaboration between Harviestoun Brewery and Highland Park. Built on the foundation of Old Engine Oil, a robust stout, it matures for up to six months in casks that once held Highland Park 16 Year Old single malt. This marriage imparts a layered character of roasted grain, smoke and whisky influence. The aroma presents roasted malts and peaty notes with restrained oak. On the palate, rich dark chocolate and coffee dominate, with a warming bourbon-like edge. The finish is smooth and gently smoky, closing with a dry, balanced bitterness. A full-bodied, contemplative beer that rewards slow sipping and rewards those seeking depth and complexity.
