About
Achel Bruin is a dark abbey ale brewed within the walls of Sint-Benedictusabdij De Achelse Kluis, a Trappist monastery on the Belgian–Dutch border. Brewing has continued here since 1852, reflecting the monks' commitment to both craft and contemplation. The beer opens with rich aromas of dark stone fruit, toffee and Belgian yeast phenolics. The palate delivers malty sweetness and caramel, layered with notes of dark fruit and ripe plum, finishing with a tangy green-apple snap that provides welcome dryness. The 8% ABV sits comfortably in the body without dominating. A well-balanced Trappist ale that rewards slow appreciation and reveals its complexity as the glass warms.
