Eggens Craft Beer from Groningen creates this Russian Imperial Stout as part of their Vatgerijpt series, where various beer styles mature in distinctive casks. The 2022 release spent approximately 333 days resting in Islay South Scotch whisky barrels, imparting deep smoke character and layered complexity to the stout. The nose reveals intense smoke with subtle hop notes. Deep black in colour with minimal head, this barrel-aged stout at 11.5% ABV delivers a full-bodied, challenging profile. Best enjoyed at 10–13°C alongside grilled meats, fatty fish, or as a contemplative evening pour by the fire.
