Brouwerij Maallust's Veldwachter Bock from Veenhuizen is a traditional bottom-fermented bock brewed in the style of yesteryear. Its deep ruby-brown colour frames a powerful, gently sweet character with pronounced roasted malt and caramel notes and a soft, lingering finish. The brewery, founded in 2011 by 25 entrepreneurs calling themselves the 'Zware Jongens' (Heavy Guys), brews on historic ground in the former prison town of Veenhuizen. The Veldwachter—named after the constable—is a rich bock beer with depth and warmth, crafted from malted barley and traditional hops using time-honoured methods.
