About
Brouwerij Kazematten, Ypres' first brewery since 1976, crafted The Wipers Times as a golden blonde ale rooted in local identity. Brewed with four grains, four spices and Maria thistle, this top-fermented beer carries the name of the famous WWI trench newspaper that British soldiers published in the city. The nose reveals fruity ester notes with vanilla and banana undertones, paired with delicate floral touches. On the palate, a creamy sweetness unfolds with citrus notes and a hint of sweet lemon drops. The finish is clean and dry, with a gentle bitterness that balances the malt's natural sweetness. At 6.2% ABV, this beer drinks richer and more complex than its strength suggests. It's a beer that honours Belgian brewing tradition while representing modern Ypres.
