Leffe Blond

About

Leffe Blonde is a blond abbey beer with brewing roots reaching back to 1240, when Norbertine monks at Leffe Abbey began their craft. The present recipe was revived in 1952 by Father Abbot Nys and brewer Albert Lootvoet. This is a commercial abbey beer under AB InBev ownership, not a Trappist product. The beer strikes a delicate balance between malt and spice. Vanilla and clove emerge in the aroma, supported by subtle fruit notes. The palate is dry with pleasant bitterness that never dominates, punctuated by honey and floral undertones. The finish is clean and dry, with lingering spice character. At 6.6% alcohol with a medium body, Leffe Blonde serves as an accessible entry point for those exploring abbey beer styles.
