About
Belgian brewery Alvinne presents Sour'ire de Mortagne, a bold reinterpretation of the classical sour ale style. Wine barrel-aged and brewed at 11% ABV, this quadrupel marries the richness of a strong ale with the complexity of mixed fermentation and wild yeast. The result balances tart acidity with sweet fruit character. Aromas reveal dark preserved cherry, red grape, vanilla and oak. The palate opens with sourness before yielding to fruity sweetness, vinous notes and hints of wood. The mouthfeel is warming and slightly astringent, befitting the alcohol strength. Since 2004, Alvinne has pioneered mixed fermentation techniques and barrel-aging in Belgium, making this sour quad a flagship expression of their innovative approach to traditional ale styles.
