About
Amstel Bock is a dark, distinctly Dutch bock from Amstelbrouwerij in Amsterdam. The brewery pioneered this style in 1883 as the first Dutch-brewed bokbier, adapting the Bavarian tradition that arrived in the Netherlands in the mid-19th century. A malt-focused beer with deep brown colour and a white head. The aroma shows roasted bread, liquorice and dark fruit notes. On the palate, malt and caramel lead, with restrained hop bitterness in support. The finish is clean and dry. At 7% ABV and traditionally lagered for four months, this is a classic Dutch bock that honours the malt-driven character of the style.
