Hidde Dirks Kat is a quadrupel from Amelander Bierbrouwerij, brewed to honour Ameland's year as cultural capital in 2018. The beer takes its name from a celebrated 18th-century Amelander sea captain who sailed on whaling expeditions. This dark beer at 9% alcohol delivers a robust, full-bodied character. It is brewed with barley and wheat malt, complemented by sugar, hops, yeast and coriander. The beer is best enjoyed at a serving temperature of 8–12°C. Amelander Bierbrouwerij has grown from a hobby project since 2016 into a respected small brewery, giving all its beers authentic Ameland names.
