About
Stift Engelszell resumed Trappist beer brewing in 2012, reviving a tradition that had been interrupted for over eighty years. The brewery draws on honey from the abbey's own beehives, introducing subtle sweetness and complexity to its range. These top-fermented beers are crafted in the Trappist tradition, emphasizing artisanal quality and careful attention to the brewing process. Engelszell's beers blend Belgian influences with Austrian character. Using malt, hops, yeast and abbey honey, the brewer creates beers with layered flavour profiles. The abbey, situated on the Danube in Upper Austria, traces its roots to 1293, anchoring this brewery in centuries of monastic heritage.
