About
Hoegaarden Spéciale is the landmark of witbier's return. In 1966, milkman Pierre Celis founded Brouwerij De Kluis in this Flemish village to revive a beer style that had nearly vanished. Brewed from a blend of barley and wheat malt, corn flakes and oats, the beer gains its distinctive lightness and soft character. Coriander, orange peel, licorice and seeds add a refined spice profile—both refreshing and layered. The classic witbier aroma and taste are immediately recognizable, with a crisp finish that drinks easily yet carries real flavour throughout. Hoegaarden Spéciale stands as the beer that reopened the witbier category to the world.
