Einstök Icelandic Doppelbock is the seasonal offering from Einstök Ölgerð, an Icelandic brewery located in Akureyri, just 60 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle. This winter warmer is brewed with smoked Icelandic barley, pale ale malt, crystal malt and chocolate malt, balanced with Bavarian hops and Icelandic angelica root. The brewery's water source—drawn from rain and prehistoric springs—imparts a distinctive mineral character that sets this beer apart. The aroma presents layers of molasses, dark bread and subtle sugar notes. On the palate, rich caramel and malt sweetness take centre stage, complemented by a distinct chocolate edge. The clean lager fermentation allows the malt complexity to shine through without excess fruitiness. At 6.7% ABV, the alcohol warmth builds gradually, supporting the beer's full body and lingering finish.
