About
Grimbergen Dubbel is a classic Belgian dubbel from Alken-Maes brewery, brewed since 1958 in a tradition rooted in the Norbertine Abbey of Grimbergen, founded in 1128. The brewery created this dubbel at the monks' own request and has maintained the style ever since. This 6.5% dubbel is brewed with six different malts and Saaz hops, delivering a full and complex character. The beer displays a reddish-brown hue topped by a robust head. The nose and palate showcase dark fruit notes—raisins and plums—layered with caramel, Belgian candi sugar and subtle spice, particularly clove. Bitterness is pronounced yet balanced, with a warming alcoholic finish. A tasting beer for connoisseurs, where malt and hop achieve true equilibrium.
