Phaedrus is the flagship beer of Culmination Brewing, a small five-barrel brewery in Portland's Kerns neighborhood. This West Coast IPA is brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops, delivering distinctive fruit character and floral notes. At 6.7% ABV and 60 IBUs, Phaedrus strikes a measured balance: hop bitterness is restrained by gentle malt sweetness, making it both approachable and flavourful. In the glass, Phaedrus presents a gold colour with a substantial white head. The nose reveals grapefruit, orange and pine. On the palate, citrus and tropical fruit emerge, supported by caramel malt undertones. The finish is clean and refreshing, avoiding the extreme bitterness common to many American IPAs. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated, it's a classic Northwest-style expression.
