About
Affligem Hop Selection is a 6.8% ABV blonde ale brewed by the abbey brewery in the Flemish town of Affligem, Belgium. Its story stretches back to 1074, when six knights-turned-monks established the abbey and began their brewing tradition. The beer is crafted with carefully selected European hop varieties—Saaz, Spalte and Savinski Golding—added at both the start and finish of the boil. The beer pours a clear golden colour beneath a voluminous, creamy head. Aromas are restrained and pleasant, offering subtle notes of yeast and vanilla. On the palate, crisp, clean malts lead to flavours of white bread and crackers, with a hint of fruitiness. Bitterness is gentle and well-balanced, creating a dry, refined finish that makes this a remarkably approachable abbey ale.
