Swinkels Family Brewers

Swinkels Family Brewers, headquartered in Lieshout, North Brabant, is one of Europe's oldest family-owned brewing companies. Its history dates back to 1719, when a small home brewery was established at De Kerkdijk in Lieshout. For three centuries the Swinkels family has remained at the helm, operating for many years under the Bavaria N.V. name before rebranding as Swinkels Family Brewers in 2018. In 2019, to mark the brewery's 300th anniversary, the company was awarded the Royal designation, becoming Royal Swinkels Family Brewers — a recognition of its extraordinary legacy in Dutch brewing history. The company's portfolio spans a diverse range of beer styles and brands, reflecting both its Dutch roots and its international ambitions. Its organisational structure comprises six divisions, including Swinkels Family Brewers, Holland Malt, Habesha, Cuba, Georgia Beer and Beverages Group, and Swinkels Real Estate. Among its most prominent brands are Bavaria, the Trappist ale label La Trappe, and the Belgian classic Rodenbach — the latter two of which are imported into the United States through a partnership with Better Beverage Leaders. In 2021, the company further expanded its craft portfolio with the takeover of Uiltje Brewing Company. Swinkels Family Brewers has earned recognition well beyond the Netherlands. At the World Beer Awards' Icons of Beer 2023, the brewery was named 'Sustainable Brewery of the Year', underlining its commitment to responsible production alongside commercial scale.
