Brouwerij De HopHemel
Belgium
Brouwerij de HopHemel is a Belgian craft brewery and taproom based in Hasselt, the capital of the Limburg province. The brewery was founded by two friends, both zythologists and passionate foodies, who launched the project as a gypsy brewery — producing their beers at various brewing facilities before establishing their own home base. Their deep appreciation for beer culture and gastronomy forms the foundation of everything they brew. The HopHemel portfolio spans a wide range of craft beer styles, demonstrating a clear appetite for creativity and collaboration. From a refreshing pils and lager to a rich milk stout brewed in partnership with a local beer retailer, and a Belgian tripel, the brewery shows versatility across fermentation styles and malt profiles. Collaboration brews are a recurring theme: the brewery has partnered with Puffin Brewery on a beer named Thorlákur, inspired by the patron saint of Iceland, highlighting their international reach and experimental spirit. At their taproom in Hasselt, guests can enjoy twelve craft beers on tap at any given time, with at least a portion of the list rotating regularly. Brouwerij de HopHemel is an active participant in the regional beer scene, taking part in events such as the Limburg Beer Weekend and the Belgium Beer Week, and welcoming visitors during open brewery weekends alongside neighbouring producers.
