Brauerei Zipf

Brauerei Zipf is a commercial lager brewery located in the Upper Austrian municipality of Zipf. Established in 1858, it is one of the older brewing operations in the region. In 1970, the brewery was acquired by Brau AG (BBAG – Österreichische Brau-Beteiligungs-AG), integrating it into one of Austria's larger brewing groups. The brewery carries a notable and complex history, including its role during the Second World War, which has been documented in academic brewing historical literature. As a lager-focused brewery rooted in Upper Austrian tradition, Brauerei Zipf specialises in classic Central European beer styles. Its portfolio includes a Märzen — a malt-forward amber lager with a 5.0% ABV — as well as a refreshing Radler at 2.0% ABV, blending beer with a citrus-based soft drink. These styles reflect the brewery's commitment to approachable, regionally rooted brewing. The brewery has maintained a long-standing collaboration with packaging technology specialist KHS, spanning over 30 years, underscoring its focus on modern production standards alongside traditional recipes.
