Vagabund Brauerei is a craft brewery and taproom located in the Berlin-Wedding district, housed in a 100-year-old boiler house within the historic Osram Höfe complex. The brewery was founded by three Americans — Matt Walthall, David Spengler, and Tom Crozier — who first met in Berlin in the early 2000s through a shared love of music and, naturally, beer. Their outsider perspective on German brewing culture gave rise to the name Vagabund, a nod to the wandering spirit of those who leave their homeland and travel through the world without a fixed base. Vagabund Brauerei is known for brewing international craft beer styles in Berlin, bringing an American sensibility to the city's storied brewing tradition. Their portfolio spans a wide range of styles, and the brewery has built a reputation for artisanal, Berlin-brewed beers that reflect both their American roots and their adopted home. The taproom in Wedding offers visitors a chance to experience the beers in an atmospheric, repurposed industrial setting. In recent years, Vagabund Brauerei FB GmbH became a subsidiary of DF Deutsche Forfait AG and expanded its portfolio by acquiring the OBC cider brand. The brewery has also been featured at Bar Convent Berlin, one of Europe's leading trade shows for the bar and beverage industry, further cementing its place on the international craft beer map.
