Morland Brewing is a historic English brewery with roots stretching back centuries, closely associated with the town of Abingdon in Oxfordshire. The brewery's heritage is intertwined with the artist George Morland (1763–1804), a relative of the original Morland brewing family, who gained fame for his landscape and rustic agricultural scenes. By the mid-1950s, the company had grown into an established regional brewer with a substantial tied estate. The brewery was eventually acquired by Greene King, under whose ownership the Morland brand continues to be produced, currently based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England. Morland Brewing is best known for its cask and bottled ales, with a portfolio rooted in traditional British beer styles. The range is characterised by approachable, well-crafted ales that reflect classic English brewing traditions. Under Greene King's stewardship, Morland beers are labelled independently under the Morland Brewing name, preserving the brand's distinct identity in the marketplace. The brewery's most iconic beer is Old Speckled Hen, a smooth and full-bodied premium English ale that has earned a strong following both in the United Kingdom and internationally. The brand is distributed widely, including in the United States through distributors such as Georgia Crown, cementing Old Speckled Hen's reputation as one of England's most recognisable export ales.
