KREANK Brouwerij is a small-scale craft brewery from Hengelo, in the Twente region of the Netherlands. The initiative was founded by Brewmaster René Reef (born 1969), who began his journey as a homebrewer before developing plans in 2020 to establish a dedicated specialty beer brewery. Supported by a group of fellow craft beer enthusiasts from Twente, KREANK has grown into a community-driven project with a strong regional identity and a clear focus on sustainability. KREANK operates as a contract brewer, independently brewing its own recipes at partner facilities. The brewery specialises in natural beers crafted from sustainably grown grains, hops and herbs sourced from Twente and the surrounding region. This commitment to local and responsible ingredient sourcing defines the KREANK character — beers that reflect both the terroir of Twente and a conscious approach to brewing. The range is described as authentic Twente specialty beer, brewed with care for both flavour and the environment. The brewery draws inspiration from the rich history of the Hengelo area, including references to the historic Huis Hengelo, rooting KREANK firmly in its local heritage. Backed by a network of ambassadors and specialty beer lovers from the region, KREANK continues to develop new beers in close collaboration with regional partners.
