Compañía Cervecerías Unidas, better known as CCU, is one of South America's largest and most established beverage companies, with roots stretching back to 1850 when the first beer operations were installed in Chile. The company was formally founded in 1902 following the merger of two breweries, consolidating a legacy that has grown over more than a century into a multi-category beverage powerhouse. Throughout the twentieth century, CCU continued to expand its footprint, acquiring additional breweries and steadily broadening its portfolio across the continent. Today, CCU operates across Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, and Uruguay, producing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Its beer portfolio spans a wide range of styles, with domestic lagers forming the backbone of production. CCU holds licensing agreements with international brewing partners, including a partnership with Molson Coors to bring Coors brands to the Chilean market, reflecting the company's ambition to offer consumers both local and global beer options under one roof. Among CCU's most recognized beers is Escudo, a Chilean lager launched in 1942 that has become a flagship brand in the country. With over 115 years of brewing history and operations spanning six South American nations, CCU stands as a cornerstone of beer culture in the region, combining industrial-scale production with a deeply rooted heritage in Chilean brewing tradition.
