The brand gained such popularity that by 1910 the company was officially renamed Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG. Today, Berliner Kindl is part of the Berliner-Kindl-Schultheiss-Brauerei, which is owned by Radeberger Gruppe, itself a subsidiary of the Oetker Group, making it one of the largest brewing operations in Germany. The brand is particularly known for its Berliner Weisse, a sour, low-alcohol wheat beer style with a long Berlin tradition. According to beer writers, the Kindl Weisse is brewed using an industrial process that involves blending two separately fermented batches, resulting in a tart, lactic character with a light body. Alongside the Weisse, Berliner Kindl also produces lagers and pilsners that are deeply embedded in Berlin's everyday drinking culture.
