The first brewery began operations in Athens in 1965, initially producing Amstel beer with a capacity of 45,000 hectoliters per year. A notable example of this innovation is the creation of Milokleftis, the first Greek cider brand, produced at Athenian Brewery from Greek apples at 4.5% alcohol. The brewery has also produced a beer enriched with sea salt from the salt flats of Mesolongi, showcasing a connection to distinctive Greek regional ingredients. Athenian Brewery served as Grand Sponsor of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens under the Heineken brand, underlining its prominent role in Greek society and its strong international ties.
