Plain Porter from Porterhouse Brewing Company is a straightforward Irish porter brewed in Dublin since 1996. Founded by cousins Oliver Hughes and Liam Lahart, who opened Ireland's first craft brewpub, this beer strips away pretence in favour of clean, honest brewing. Dark and smooth, it balances malt sweetness with subtle roast. The beer pours deep brown to black with a substantial tan head. On the nose, roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and prune notes emerge. The palate reveals semi-sweet dark chocolate, pumpernickel and molasses character, layered with toasted grain and a touch of aniseed, finishing dry with lingering sweetness.
