Aventinus Tap 6 Vintage 2015
Aventinus is the world's oldest Weizenbock, created in 1907 by Mathilda Schneider, widow of Georg Schneider III. This dark ruby-coloured wheat beer marries the fruity, banana-forward character of a Weissbier with the full body and warming strength of a Bock.
At 8.2% ABV, Aventinus balances roasted malt, dark fruit, banana and subtle spice. The mouthfeel is smooth and pleasant, making this intensive beer surprisingly drinkable. When fresh, it displays lively yeast character; with age it develops port and sherry-like fruit notes.
A benchmark Bavarian Weizenbock that pairs well with rustic meat dishes, dark roasts and sweet desserts.
