Van Vollenhoven Extra Stout
Van Vollenhoven Extra Stout is a revived classic from Amsterdam. The original recipe dates to 1880, when the Van Vollenhoven brewery introduced this stout. It became famous for its rich, full malt body and was the best-selling beer in the Netherlands during the second half of the 19th century. Brouwerij Poesiat & Kater now brews this historic beer according to the original recipe.
This is a full-bodied stout with roasted and caramel character. The high malt content combined with a moderate 7.1% ABV creates an approachable, balanced beer. Distinctive notes of coffee, raisins and roasted grain provide depth without heavy alcohol warmth.
