Jopen Meesterstuk 2017 BA No.1 Bowmore is an Imperial Porter from Haarlem's Jopen brewery, matured for 365 days in Bowmore whisky casks. This ambitious release marries the rich, smoky character of Scottish peated barrels with the deep complexity of a robust porter base.

The nose reveals intense peat and turf, layered with roasted malt, dark chocolate and herbal spice. The original recipe incorporated fresh ginger and Celtic sea salt, though these play a supporting role in the finished beer. On the palate, the beer is substantial and full-bodied, with notes of chocolate and liquorice, tempered by the distinctive peated character from its cask maturation.
