Jopen Hoppenbier
Jopen Hoppenbier is Haarlem's historic blonde ale, brewed to the city's original recipe from 1501. This three-grain beer blends barley, wheat and oat malts in a traditional Dutch brewing style that echoes centuries of local craft.
The flavour is assertively hoppy with a dual hop charge delivering citrus and spicy character. Laurel and clove notes emerge in the aroma, while the finish turns dry and bitter with a pronounced bite.
Jopen, housed in the converted Jopenkerk church in Haarlem, has revived these historic brewing traditions. The Hoppenbier serves as the foundation for other period recipes in the brewery's range, reflecting their commitment to both heritage and creative exploration.
