Hertog Jan's Grand Prestige Vatgerijpt Rutte is an ambitious barleywine aged for eight months in used bourbon barrels from the Frisian jenever distillery Rutte. This collaboration marries the robust malt foundation of Grand Prestige with botanical extracts and distillates rooted in Rutte's heritage: walnut, hazelnut, natural cherry extract, cinnamon, angelica root and calamus.

The result is a complex, earthy grain wine with floral and fruity character. The 2019 vintage earned international recognition as 'World's Best Flavoured Wood Aged' at the World Beer Awards, testament to the craftsmanship of both houses. This is a beer for contemplation, not haste.
