Hertog Jan's Grand Prestige Vatgerijpt Hooghoudt is an ambitious collaboration between two Dutch institutions: the traditional Arcen brewery and the celebrated Hooghoudt distillery. This barleywine was brewed as a base recipe and then matured in Hooghoudt's oloroso sherry casks, which previously held the distillery's prized grain spirit.

Maturation in these casks imparts nutty flavours and dried fruit notes. Hertog Jan enriched the beer with herbal and spice extracts, creating a refined profile with distinct jenever character. This is a beer built for cellaring, becoming richer and more complex with age.
