Hertog Jan's Grand Prestige Vatgerijpt Hollandse Wijn Editie 2019 is a rare barleywine aged for ten months in red wine casks from Betuws Wijndomein. The extended maturation on these Betuwe vineyard barrels yielded just 1700 bottles, each representing a deliberate partnership between brewery and winemaker.

The wine cask aging brings warm accents of red fruit to the fore. According to master brewer Alain Schepers, the result is an elegant interplay of malt character, fruitiness, spice, and subtle notes of vanilla and coconut. This is a beer that evolves and deepens with age, gaining further complexity after two years of cellaring.
