Hertog Jan Dubbel is a traditional dark beer from the brewery of the same name in Arcen, Limburg. This top-fermented dubbel is brewed with six special malt varieties, including a secret crystal malt produced exclusively for Hertog Jan. The beer delivers a rich, distinctive aroma and a soft yet dry palate with coffee notes, restrained hop character, roast and a hint of chocolate. The brewery itself carries deep brewing heritage: Hertog Jan was founded in 1915 when four fellow brewers joined forces to establish a modern steam brewery. The operation is known for using pure spring water drawn from natural sources near Arcen and filtered through local clay layers.
