Harviestoun's Ola Dubh Special 12 Reserve is a dark, layered beer aged for six months in casks previously used for Highland Park 12 Year Old single malt whisky. The Scottish brewery's robust base ale absorbs the wood's character, delivering roasted malt depth alongside whisky-barrel influence. The nose presents coffee beans, vanilla and a smoky, almost leather-like edge. On the palate, dark roasted malts and peat notes lead, followed by oak, cocoa and a hint of tobacco. The finish is dry and lingering, with smoke and coffee returning as the warmth fades.
