Gulpener IJsbock
Gulpener IJsbock is an ambitious bock beer from Limburg, born through traditional freeze distillation of the Tarwe Dubbelbock. This unfiltered beer blends equal parts wheat and barley with the same yeast strain used in Weizens, creating a layered character at 10.3% ABV.
The nose reveals sweet malt and caramel with subtle fruity undertones. The palate delivers a full, sweet taste with pronounced cocoa and coffee notes, balanced by a dry, bitter finish and a touch of citrus. The beer carries a full, creamy body with a smooth, warming mouthfeel.
Gulpener, an independent family brewery in Gulpen since 1825, earned silver at the Brussels Beer Challenge 2016.
