This Imperial Stout from The Flying Dutchman Nomad Brewing Company in Finland is a layered and intricate experience. The beer is matured on coffee beans, cocoa beans, Bourbon vanilla and Tahitian vanilla beans, creating a rich interplay of aromas and flavours.

When poured, it reveals a dark brown colour with dark beige foam. The nose shows roasted malt and coffee, touched by wood and a hint of sweetness. On the palate, roasted character and sweetness dominate, with pronounced coffee and cocoa notes woven together with vanilla in a well-integrated balance.

The finish delivers sweet chocolate and coffee with a light, approachable mouthfeel. There is indeed a lot going on here – and that is entirely the point.
